Title Research (Artofthetitle)

We are on this website to learn how to create our titles. These websites are helping us to understand how we should create and place them. It's also demonstrating how our films should be playing in the back. I saw many categories for many different titles, such as the Top 10 opening sequences, and the most recommended sequences. I also saw many different genre categories and actual opening sequences. There was also a search bar if you were looking for something specific. I saw many different examples of title sequences in my genre. They were  creative and fit the genre. They helped me figure out where exactly the titles should go. They also helped me figure out to how place them creatively and strategically. I learned that during a lot of thriller titles are placed before, during, or after, a point of emphasis. For example, before a car crash, during a love scene, after a crash noise. I learned how to insert the titles without things being or looking too choppy. I definitely think I learned from being on this website.

Genre Research Us

The next movie I’ve decided to analyze is.t blew up as soon as it was released. This movie is considered a drama as well as a thriller. This movie had lots of variety when it came to movements as well as angles. When the characters were turned into the evil beings, they camera would an extreme close up on their eyes to demonstrate the change. The angles also included high and low angles throughout. For example when the car flipped over the beginning, the camera was tilted downward slightly to capture the characters. It also contained numerous eye level shots to keep certain shots plain and simple. The movie included many two and three person shots to show those interactions fully. There are also lots of shots from the side that added a nice variety to the shots. Additionally, the movie include lots of birds eye view shots during the boating scenes. It also included many tracking shots. These added to the intensity and fast paced action within the movie. In comparison to certain shots, there weren't as many movements throughout the movie. It probably did include some tilts and pans but they were nothing too memorable. The editing also included many jump cuts. They were especially strategic because they were placed right before the action, so it kept you wondering and curious. Strategies like those keep the audience more engaged. The sounds were mostly diegetic. They included sounds of the water, sounds within the character’s head and audio from crashes and more. The costumes fit the characters really well especially during the “purge” stage. They were pretty dingy and dirty. This very well went along with the storyline. It also complimented the many settings within the movie. The props also did this very well, especially with the blindfolds. That was one of the key props in developing the story. I really enjoyed the actors and story of this film. I also enjoyed the many different shots and angles. There was nothing I really disliked about this film.

Genre Research Bird Box

The next movie I’ve decided to analyze is Bird Box. This movie is also a netflix original created in 2018. It blew up as soon as it was released. This movie is considered a drama as well as a thriller. This movie had lots of variety when it came to movements as well as angles. When the characters were turned into the evil beings, they camera would an extreme close up on their eyes to demonstrate the change. The angles also included high and low angles throughout. Genre Research What Happened To Monday

The first movie I’ve decided to analyze is called What Happened to Monday. This move is a netflix originality that gained lots of views in 2019. It does contain action and romance elements so it’s actually said to be more than one genre. The movie is filled with constant lighting changes throughout. The whole movie has lots of dark, medium, and bright lights. It also contains a lot of flashing as well. These different lighting levels truly evoked intensity while I watched the movie. It also created lots of variety as well as dimension. This film contained angles of all kinds. It included close ups and extreme close ups when the characters were getting ready for their day. It includes mid shot and even more close ups during violent scenes. There were also some tracking shots like when the camera moved with the characters heels. It also included two+ person shots because this was a movie in which there were lots of interactions within the family, so everyone had to have been captured in the shot. Towards the end, the movie also had a lot of over the shoulder shots when the last two sisters confronted each other. The editing included lots of jump cuts throughout the whole movie as well. This kept you hooked on the precious scene while you watched the next. The props and costumes in this movie were seriously impressive. Every single sister had her own costume that fit her personality. The makeup also emphasized this idea. I think this affect kept us interested to learn more about every single sister. We continued to watch so we could find out more. The props also played the same role. The sounds were diegetic. They included noises like walking, talking, eating, etc. The nondiegetic sounds included unnatural door sliding sounds and more. There were many different settings through this film. I believe all of them played key roles in developing the story. They were all significant later on in some way. I thoroughly enjoyed many elements of this film. I truly don't think I disliked anything about it.

Genre choice blog

I chose the thriller genre. I decided to choose my genre because I am a genuine fan of it. I did have some other choices in mind, but I just didn’t believe they were they right fit. A thriller will be perfect for my final task because I will be able to tell a short story but easily cut it off at a cliffhanger in the movie. This isn’t easily done with other genres. I will also enjoy making this one the most in my opinion.

2 Different Genres Research

The comedy genre is known to many audiences. It includes brighter lighting and less contrasts. This is to evoke more of a neutral to cheery mood. There are minimal shadows as well. The angles commonly used within comedy are point of view angles and normal two-person shot medium angles. Common movements for this genre include zooms, Tracking shots, and more. These movements emphasize the focus of the shots. Sometimes there will barely any movements of the camera at all. Directors let the actors and their humorous scripts do the work. It's elements include wit and irony, which add to the humorous nature of the films. In terms of props and costumes, those usually stay pretty minimal so the characters and their lines can do the work for the film. Common sounds within these films include actual laughter. I feel as if this lets the audience know when there’s an intended joke and provokes them to laugh along. Also, many times actions are emphasized by certain sounds. Some examples include Dumb and Dumber, Hustlers, and more.

The romance genre is also a pretty popular genre. It includes much dimmer lighting and way more contrasted lighting. This helps set a more romantic mood for the scene as well as the rest of the movie. The angles commonly used in these films are two shots, close ups, and establishing shots. The two shots usually capture the lovebirds, the close ups emphasize the actions taking place and establishing shots set those romantic scenes. The movements that are used include zooms, pans, and tilts. All of these are usually done in slow movement to really focus on the characters. There usually patterns within plots and scripting for these types of films. These include love at first sight, being rescued, and other obstacles that prevent the two characters that are in love from being together. This draws the audience in to want to watch more. This also makes for a really happy ending once they find their way. Costumes for this genre usually include accent noted by the other character. Common sounds usually include romantic music. Examples include Titanic, The Notebook, and the English Patient.

Genre Powerpoint

This was  a very introductory assignment. We were given our genre's at random. We were then asked to create a power point at whichever genre you received. This assignment was given to us so we could learn about different elements within different types of genres. We were asked to include things like common angles and movements. We were also asked to include different elements and examples. We were also asked personally about our take on our genre's films. This was a pretty easy yet fun assignment to put together. It was also pretty fun to explore other genres. This was a great way to learn.

Start of the Final Task

My name is Chelsea Bouquette. I am a 12th grade student. I attend Fort Lauderdale High School, in the state of Florida. In my free time, I enjoy viewing videos on Youtube. I also thoroughly enjoy listening to music. I have two sisters and live with both my parents. I have a 1 year old cat. His name is Simba I also enjoy to play and cuddle with him. My favorite subject in school is language arts. I also do enjoy this Aice Media class. I do not have any group members this time around. For this project I am choosing to work on my own.

So far I have learned the basic processes of film making. I truly didn't know how to film or edit before taking this class. I was also able to learn many terms and words that I hadn't known before. This class had also taught me the importance of planning ahead. I've also learned to be early and/or stay on top of everything. I am excited to film because that is my favorite part in terms of film making. I am also excited to see how this turns out because I am working by myself. It will be ten times more satisfying to see that final product knowing I did it all on my own.  I am least excited for the editing process.

A pitch is a term used to describe a film in 25 words or less usually within one sentence. I have three pitch ideas. I will narrow it down to 2, and then one, and then begin story boarding. My first pitch idea is "an old high school lover was hurt in the past and seeks revenge on his new girlfriend in an unexpected way." My next pitch is "an escape room worker is put to the test by an unforeseen enemy to escape a room that will blow in 72 hours." My last pitch is "a man lives a long and complicated life with a lover that was never there."
