By far, marketing is one of the most important elements when it comes to producing a very successful film. There are many strategic marketing methods out there that help films gain exposure and popularity, which in turns leads to the overall success of a film.

Avengers End game was a walt disney filmed that premiered in April of 2019. The Marvel Studios film made a profit of $890 million dollars. They used strategies that peaked the interest of many people. First Marvel studios created a very exciting trailer that did not give out too much information. It revealed ideas of the plot and introduced certain characters, but did not give out too much information, which kept Marvel fans on the edge of their seat. The trailer was then put on many social media platforms, and was also shown before many other movies that were predicted to be very popular. This strategy helped the film gain it’s exposure before it was even premiered. Next, after the trailer came out, a trendy hashtag was created to create an even further buzz of the movie. “#AvengersEndgame swamped platforms like twitter and instagram. Fans discussed their excitement and their predictions. Fans shared their ideas and thoughts while creating more awareness that the film was well on its way. Building this interest and anticipation gave people a reason to find a way to watch the film. I actually latched onto this marketing tactic myself, and tweeted a couple times about the upcoming movie. Lastly, like many other films, Avengers also released happy meal toys to go into McDonald’s happy meals. This creates awareness not only within the kids enjoying the meal, but within parents as they obtain the meal for their kids. This form of marketing was reaching out to a different age group. Combining all of these marketing strategies led to the success of this movie in 2019.

Additionally, another movie that played to its strengths in terms of marketing was the famous, Black Panther. Black Panther Released in February of 2018 and profited about $1.23 billion dollars. The first major way in which this movie stood out from all the others was its concept. This movie does appeal to every race, but targeting a minority group and showcasing them, they managed to grab the attention of more viewers than many other movies produced by Marvel. It was clear by the trailers and the name that most of the actors were AFrican American, and that they’d be focusing on a culture that isn’t normally showcased. I’m not one to go to movie theaters, but I remember seeing that and promising myself I would go and watch the movie in a theater. Next, the movie was marketed by participating in cross promotion. I remember walking into GNC and seeing a black panther cup and the price was about $15 dollars. I thought that was outrageous but since it was a black cup with a Black Panther sticker, I had to have it, and I bought it anyway. With a movie that was so intricate and attention catching, they kno people will buy anything that has Black Panther on it and they definitley used this to their advantage. Posters, cups, jewlery, kids costumes and so much more. In doing this, once again marvel targeted different age groups, which allowed them to make more profit, and allowed them to spread more knowledge of the film, resulting in more people viewing it.

Marketing strategies can make or break a movie and its sucess. Marketing strategies are extremely important, and knowing and exploring the different types of makreting attractions newer and different audiences. Marketing is very important and goes a long way for many films, and will continue to do so for years to come.

Filming Blog

Yesterday I was finally able to begin filming. My filming crew consisted of Autumn, my mom, my sister, my friend Justin and myself. We decided the best place for us to film was Destiney’s house, since she has a nice open space. We rode there right after school and immediately began setting up. Autumn and my sister switched back and forth between being the camera man. My mom was there for support. She was also there in case of any emergency. We filmed inside, and outside. I was able to successfully act as well as direct Justin as my “stalker.” I also explained to Autumn how to film all the scenes. She’s also an Aice Media student so it was much easier for me to do. We had another friend on the way to film with us, and on his way he got into a car accident. So that was the end of us filming. We just wanted to do our part in making sure our friend was okay. We got most of the group scenes done. We will resume filming on our own time. Nonetheless, we were able to get a lot done. Once we were finished, I took my SD reader and dumped everything onto my computer. I placed it in my Aice Media footage folder for safe keeping.

Filming Blog

Unfortunately, I was not able to film. My friend Autumn has really been suffering in terms of her health. The day we(my mother, sister, Autumn, and I) were all able to film, she had a sudden doctor's appointment. She had been hospitalized a couple days before. She was asked to come in by her doctors office. As her friend, I understood completley. She is one of my main characters. I also don’t know anyone reliable enough to fill in for her. Therefore, we were not able to film. For the time being I will finish up my storyboard. I will also add a to do list and checklist so that when we do film we don't waste any time. We’ll be a bit behind when we get to meet, so I don’t want to waste a second due to poor planning. I will also plan out what we’ll do first, second, third, etc. Had I been able to film, we would have shot the film at my house. We would have taken all the scenes that needed to be filmed within the house and car. The bathroom scenes, the escape room scenes, along with the living room scenes. The scenes in the park and public bathrooms weren’t as high of a priority. We can easily film those scenes other times. They aren’t nearly as detailed, or complicated. So for now,  I will be planning in depth until we are able to meet again.

Location, Schedule, Health and Safety, and Participants

This blog is on Location, Schedule, Health and Safety, and Participants of the film. This, like my others blogs, also contains a google slide presentation. I embedded it into the blog for easy viewing and access. It goes slide by slide of each element. There are 5 slides in total. Some of the slides are self explanatory, such as location, and others contain "deeper" and more relevant information. The Health and Safety slide describes exactly what our procedure is, and who's in charge of what. The participant slide includes what role is played by everyone that is participating.  The location includes images of where ill be filming, and the the Schedule slide just includes information on complications within our schedule and which days we've decided t choose to film.
